My youth was spent, even early on, creating and enjoying images. My “formal” training in art started at the elementary and high school levels. Progressing later, almost naturally, to the completion of my BFA in painting and drawing earned at The University of the Arts, Philadelphia in 1993.

Influenced by highways, roads and industrial sites, my current work utilizes Google Maps “street view” references, narrowed down in scope and then choosing a location based in part on composition. These paintings have a distinction of nature in them among the man made structures. I enjoy this juxtaposition of small ecosystems surrounded by the modern world where nature has carved a little place for itself.

We see these structures everyday, commuting to work, taking a trip or running an errand. They are indelible backgrounds of our everyday lives that we usually take for granted. But, they are part of the landscape, in turn affecting the way we see the landscape and the world around us.
